If you continue to browse and use this website and / or participate in our community, you are agreeing to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions of use, which together with our privacy policy and FAQ govern our relationship with you in relation to this website. If you disagree with any part of these terms and conditions, please do not use our website or participate in our community.

Please read these Terms and Conditions ("Terms", "Terms and Conditions") carefully before using the GoSocial.org.uk website (the "Service") operated by GoSocial ("us", "we", or "our").
The term 'website', ‘community’, 'our', 'us' or 'we' refers to the owner of the website. The term 'you' refers to the user or viewer of our website / members of our community.

1. Website / Platform
The use of this website or other platform is subject to the following terms of use:

  • 1.1. The content of the pages of this website is for your general information and use only. It is subject to change without notice.
  • 1.2. You acknowledge that neither we nor any third parties provide any warranties while you are using this website for any particular purpose. We expressly exclude liability for any possible harm to the fullest extent permitted by law.
  • 1.3. Your use of any information or materials on this website is entirely at your own risk, for which we shall not be liable. It shall be your own responsibility to ensure that any products, services or information available through this website meet your specific requirements.

  • 1.4. This website contains material that may be owned by or licensed to us. This material includes, but is not limited to, the design, layout, look, appearance and graphics. Reproduction is prohibited other than upon receiving explicit permission.
  • 1.5. Unauthorised use of this website may give rise to a claim for damages and/or be a criminal offence.
  • 1.6. This website may also include links to other websites. These links are provided for your convenience to provide further information. They do not signify that we endorse the website(s). We are not responsible for the content, accuracy or opinions express in such Web sites, and such Web sites are not investigated, monitored or checked for accuracy or completeness by us. If you decide to leave our Site and access these third-party sites, you do so at your own risk.
  • 1.7. You agree not to submit illegal content to this website, and agree to warn website owners if you see other users doing it.
  • 1.8. We reserve the right in our sole discretion to edit or delete any documents, posts, comments, pictures, information or other content appearing on the Site without further notice to users of the Site.
  • 1.9. All suggestions, ideas, notes, concepts, pictures and other information you may from time to time send to us (collectively, "Submissions") shall be deemed and shall remain our sole property and shall not be subject to any obligation of confidence on our part. Without limiting the foregoing, we shall be deemed to own all known and hereafter existing rights of every kind and nature regarding the Submissions and shall be entitled to unrestricted use of the Submissions for any purpose, without compensation to the provider of the Submissions.
  • 1.10. All uppercase posting is considered bad manners or rude and is therefore not permitted. If you wish to add emphasis please use bold. We reserve the right to delete posts that contain words of all capitals.
  • 1.11. You may not use GoSocial (including private messages) to promote other sites, organisations, groups, social media or services.

  • 1.13. No bumping posts. Any post that is considered to have been posted with the primary intention of raising position in the newsfeed may result in the comment being deleted and /or the entire thread being removed from the newsfeed.

  • 1.14. You may not use GoSocial as a dating site. If we believe that you’re attempting to use us for dating, such as, but not limited to sending excessive private messages, encouraging other members to contact you off site, will lead to suspension or termination of membership. If you are the recipient of such contact please report it to the Community Admin.

  • 1.15. We reserve the right to monitor private messages to ensure compliance with these terms.

  • 1.16. Cookies, we use cookies. You may modify your browser setting to prevent this however this may have a negative impact on the site functionality. Please see the Cookies policy for more details.

2. Profiles / Accounts

  • 2.1. When you create an account with us, you must provide us information that is accurate, complete, and current at all times. Failure to do so constitutes a breach of the Terms, which may result in immediate termination of your account on our Service.
  • 2.2. We operate a real names only policy therefore the Firstname field must be your actual first name. Abbreviations are acceptable, EG. Robert may sign up as Rob or Bob, Janet may use Jan etc. Nicknames are not acceptable.
  • 2.3. You are responsible for safeguarding the password that you use to access the Service and for any activities or actions under your password, whether your password is with our Service or a third-party service.
  • 2.4. You agree not to disclose your password to any third party. You must notify us immediately upon becoming aware of any breach of security or unauthorized use of your account.
3. Membership / Community
  • 3.1. You must be at least 18 years old.
  • 3.2. You are entitled to be treated with courtesy and respect at all times and conversely you must treat all other members with courtesy and respect. If you find that you cannot do this then this club is not for you. You don’t have to like every other member but you do have to treat every other member with respect.
  • 3.3. At all times your safety is entirely your responsibility. However you must take reasonable care over the health and safety of yourself and other members, particularly if you are hosting an event.
  • 3.4. You must at all times act in the best interests of GoSocial.
    • 3.4.1. No one should act in a negative, destructive manner or incite discontent towards the community, its events or its members. This does not preclude fair and reasonable comment appropriately and fairly expressed.
  • 3.5. Harassment, bullying, stalking or any other abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. Anyone found to be engaged in such activities will face suspension or termination.
  • 3.6. Donations (for tax reasons) should be considered a gift to the Community Admin however 100% of all monies received will be used solely for the benefit (as determined by the Community Admin) of GoSocial.
  • 3.7. Your continued membership is at the invitation of the Community Admin, this may be revoked at any time, we are not obliged to provide reasons or explanations.
  • 3.8. Any attempts to circumvent site security, permissions, terms or the spirit of each. Such as, but not limited to, creating multiple profiles or posting on behalf of someone who may not, will lead to suspension or termination of membership.
  • 3.9. You may not, either within GoSocial or by other means attempt to entice GoSocial members to use any service that could be considered a rival to GoSocial. Any such attempts will result in suspension or termination.
  • 3.10. Terms 3.2, 3.4, 3.5, 3.8 & 3.9 are equally applicable on events organised through GoSocial, organised via other means, casual meetings, in general conversation, postings on social media or any other form of communication.
  • 3.11. Nontransferable. Your right to use the site and membership is not transferable.
  • 3.12. Do not create or attempt to create sub-brands, all events are GoSocial events. Any perceived sub-brands will be removed and this may lead to disciplinary action.
4. Termination
  • 4.1. We may terminate, suspend or limit access to our Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms.
  • 4.2. Profiles that are not used or fall dormant will at our discretion be removed.
    • 4.2.1. Our standard data retention period is 5 years of inactivity.
  • 4.3. All provisions of the Terms which by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including, without limitation, ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity and limitations of liability.
  • 4.4. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.
  • 4.5. If you wish to terminate your account, you will need to:
    • 4.5.1. Remove yourself from any events you've booked onto. Where appropriate leave a comment that you can't attend.
    • 4.5.2. If you're hosting a future events, they will be deleted along with your profile so there may be needed to get these re-hosted, the Community admin can help with this.
    • 4.5.3. Should any payments or deposits have been taken these must be returned.
    • 4.5.4. Please send a private message to the Community Admin asking to be removed.
  • 4.6. Should your membership stop for any reason, any donations, payments or deposits made should be considered forfeit.
5. Events
  • 5.1. Events must be events. Members should expect to meet people they already know or be made to feel welcome. Eg. Acceptable 'I'm going to the pub tonight, anyone want to come?' Not an event 'I'm thinking of going to the pub tonight is anyone interested?'
  • 5.2. Unhosted events are not permitted. ie. the host must be available to meet and welcome the guests for the duration of the event, until the end time if an end time is specified.
  • 5.3. The term 'Get Together' is reserved for official use only however if you would like to host an official Get Together please contact the Community Admin.
  • 5.4. You may not add comments that could discourage another member from attending an event. If you have genuine concerns about an event please privately contact the host and Community Admin.
  • 5.5. You may not profit from events (without the prior consent of the Community Admin). Sometimes it is necessary to take payments from members for services or materials. The total taken must not exceed the sum it has cost you.
    • 5.5.1. If you should generate a surplus it must be donated for the benefit of the whole community.
      • 5.5.1.1. If the donation is made via the website the anonymous box needs to ticked as it’s not your money.
    • 5.5.2. We may require you to make accounts available for inspection.
  • 5.6. Discounts, promotions, vouchers, free places should be shared amongst all attending members. Eg. all the guests present should benefit from the saving of a buy one, get one free.
  • 5.7. You must not exclude members from events on the grounds of age, sex, race, ethnicity, sexual orientation or similar without prior authorisation from the Community Admin. Except under pandemic terms.
  • 5.8. Once you press the ‘I’m Attending’ button you are committing to attend that event. Please ensure that you do turn up.
    • 5.8.1. If you are unable to attend you must change your attendance or otherwise inform the host.
    • 5.8.2. You may still be liable for any costs that have been paid on your behalf.
    • 5.8.3. We reserve the right to impose sanctions on members who frequently don’t turn up or cancel with less than 24 hours notice.
  • 5.9. Payments. It is sometimes necessary to take payments or deposits prior to the event.
    • 5.9.1. Payments made directly to another member is done entirely at your own risk.
    • 5.9.2. We do not vet member so they may not be who they claim to be, therefore we recommend that payments are only made to people you’ve actually met and trust.
    • 5.9.3. In the event that a host leaves GoSocial or has their membership terminated for any reason, any and all payments taken must be returned.
      • 5.9.3.1. In such a situation may assist creditors and authorities. This supersedes the privacy policy and personal details may be divulged.
  • 5.10. We do not supervise events or activities organised via GoSocial and are not involved in any way with the actions of any individuals at these events. We therefore have no control over the identity or actions of the individuals who are present.
  • 5.11. We reserve the right to remove events that clash with or would cause problems to official GoSocial events or are otherwise determined not to be in the best interest of the community.
6. Dispute resolution
  • 6.1. GoSocial only accepts adult members, we therefore expect you to behave in an adult fashion.
  • 6.2. If you should have a dispute with another member, you should in the first instance, contact the member and politely attempt to resolve the issue yourselves. We do however advise that the Community Admin is copied in on any messages or made aware of the situation to prevent recurring situations or should escalation be necessary.
  • 6.3. Please do not discuss it members not directly involved. Rumours and hearsay will not help the situation.
  • 6.4. Where attempts to resolve the dispute between yourselves is not possible or have failed, GoSocial may at it’s sole discretion mediate in the dispute.
  • 6.5. To initiate mediation, the problem must be submitted to the Community Admin in writing.
7. Consent to disclosure
  • 7.1. You acknowledge and agree that we may under the following circumstances, disclose your information.

    • 7.1.1. Required to do so by law.
    • 7.1.2. To comply with a current judicial proceeding, a court order or legal process served on us or our website.
    • 7.1.3. Enforcement this Agreement.
    • 7.1.4. Transfer of ownership.
    • 7.1.5. To protect the rights, property or personal safety of GoSocial, its employees, members, hosts, volunteers and the public.
    • 7.1.6. As necessary under terms 4.5.3 or 5.9.3.
  • 7.2. We also may disclose any information about you to law enforcement or other government officials as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate, in connection with an investigation of fraud, intellectual property infringements, or other activity that is illegal or that we believe may expose us or you to legal liability.
8. Covid, Pandemic, Epidemic, Other Health Emergencies
  • 8.1. During times of health emergencies (such as pandemics or epidemics) GoSocial or a host may require special conditions to be met (such as vaccination against the threat, precautions like face masks, hand washing / sanitising) before you are allowed to attend their event. It is anticipated that such conditions will follow government advice at the time and be for the safety of all the host, all members attending and venue staff.
  • 8.2. In situations where a member has a valid reason they are unable to meet such conditions and in this circumstance should contact the host prior to the event. Turning up without meeting the conditions unannounced is likely to cause distress, embarrassment, confrontation and possibly harm the reputation of GoSocial.
  • 8.3. Please remember, it’s not necessarily about the threat itself but possibly the perception of the threat that may make people uncomfortable.
  • 8.4. We reserve the right to suspend or expel anyone not showing proper consideration for other members, for not following government or GoSocial advice where it makes other members uncomfortable or for harming the GoSocial reputation.
  • 8.5. Any host that feels a member is showing disregard for safety precautions may insist that member withdraw from their event.
  • 8.6. A zero tolerance approach will be taken, any conflicts or disputes in regards to group safety measures is likely to lead to immediate suspension or expulsion.
  • 8.7. All members are required to take a lateral flow test before attending every event.

    • 8.7.1. The test result must be negative.
    • 8.7.2. If you test positive, please excuse yourself from all events until safe to return, as per current government rules.
    • 8.7.3. The test must be taken within 12 hours of the event start time.
    • 8.7.4. Please use permanent ink to date and put your first (or given) name on the white plastic test strip and take it with you to the event. A photo of the test is acceptable, provided the front is clearly labelled. You are not required to show it unless another guest asks to see it, then it must be produced.
    • 8.7.5. If a member is unable to show their test, please do not try and take any direct action but instead report it to a crew member as soon as practicle, where possible include the name of a witness.
    • 8.7.6. If you are genuinely unable to take a test, please post the reason in the event comments with plenty of notice. If the host or other guests are not happy for their safety, you will need to withdraw from the event. Repeated excuses will lead to suspension.
9. Fraud.
By signing up, you confirm that the information provided in the forms you complete is true and that you agree to abide by the Terms and Conditions of use of GoSocial. Please note that your sign up can be cancelled without notice if it is determined that false or misleading information has been provided, the Terms and Conditions of use have been violated, or other abuses have occurred as determined by us in its sole discretion. If sign up has been revoked, we reserves the right to refuse application or re-admission.

10. Indemnification.
You agree to indemnify, defend and hold us and our partners, attorneys, staff, hosts, volunteers and affiliates (collectively, "Affiliated Parties") harmless from any liability, loss, claim and expense, including reasonable attorney's fees, related to your violation of this Agreement or use of the Site.

11. Governing Law
  • 10.1. These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of United Kingdom, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.
  • 10.2. Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms will not be considered a waiver of those rights.
  • 10.3. If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable by a court, the remaining provisions of these Terms will remain in effect. These Terms constitute the entire agreement between us regarding our Service, and supersede and replace any prior agreements we might have between us regarding the Service.
12. Changes
We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time.

IN PARTICULAR, BUT NOT AS A LIMITATION, WE AND OUR AFFILIATED PARTIES ARE NOT LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL OR CONSEQUENTIAL DAMAGES (INCLUDING DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF BUSINESS, LOSS OF PROFITS, LITIGATION, OR THE LIKE), WHETHER BASED ON BREACH OF CONTRACT, BREACH OF WARRANTY, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), PRODUCT LIABILITY OR OTHERWISE, EVEN IF ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. NO ADVICE OR INFORMATION, WHETHER ORAL OR WRITTEN, OBTAINED BY YOU FROM US THROUGH THE SITE SHALL CREATE ANY WARRANTY, REPRESENTATION OR GUARANTEE NOT EXPRESSLY STATED IN THIS AGREEMENT.
