1.13 GoSocial is not to be used as a dating site. If we believe that you’re attempting to use us for dating, (e.g. but not limited to, sending excessive and/or unwanted private messages, encouraging other members to contact you off site), this will lead to suspension or termination of membership. If you are the recipient of such contact, please report this to the Committee.

1.15 Cookies: we do use these; whilst you can modify your browser settings to prevent this, this may have a negative impact on the site functionality. Please see the Privacy Policy for more details.
2. Profiles/Accounts
2.1 When you create an account with us, you must provide us information that is accurate and complete and ensure that this remains current. Failure to do constitutes a breach of the T&Cs, which may result in immediate termination of your account on GoSocial, it may also mean that we cannot contact someone in an emergency.
2.2 We operate a ‘real name’ only policy therefore the ‘First name’ field must be your actual first name. Abbreviations are acceptable, e.g. Robert may sign up as Rob or Bob, Janet may use Jan etc. Nicknames are not acceptable.
2.3 You are responsible for safeguarding the password that you use to access GoSocial and for any activities or actions under your password, whether your password is with GoSocial or a third-party service.
2.4 You agree not to disclose your password to any third party. You must notify us immediately upon becoming aware of any breach of security or unauthorized use of your account.
3. Membership/Community
3.1 You must be at least 18 years old.
3.2 You are entitled to be always treated with courtesy and respect, and conversely, you must treat all other members with courtesy and respect. You don’t have to like every other member, but you do have to treat every other member with courtesy and respect; if you find that you cannot do this then this club is not for you.
3.3 No one should act in a negative, destructive manner or incite discontent towards the community, its events or its members. This does not preclude fair and reasonable comment appropriately and fairly expressed. Harassment, bullying, stalking or any other abusive behaviour will not be tolerated. Anyone found to be engaged in such activities may have their membership suspended or terminated (see also Section 6 – Dispute Resolution)
3.4 At all times your safety is entirely your responsibility, and you must take reasonable care over the health and safety of yourself and other members, especially if hosting an event.
3.5 Any attempts to circumvent site security, permissions, terms or the spirit of each (e.g. but not limited to, creating multiple profiles, posting on behalf of someone who’s permissions have been withdrawn/may not post) may lead to suspension or termination of membership.
3.6 You may not, either within GoSocial or by other means attempt to entice GoSocial members to use any service that could be considered a rival to GoSocial. Any such attempts will result in suspension or termination.
3.7 All events are GoSocial events and the creation of ‘sub-brands’ is not allowed. Any perceived sub-brands will be removed, and this may lead to suspension or termination of membership
3.8 You must at all times act in the best interests of GoSocial, points 3.2 to 3.7 (inclusive) are equally applicable on events organised through GoSocial and in other arenas (e.g. but not limited to, those organised via other means, casual meetings, general conversation, social media posting or any other form of communication.
3.9 Your continued membership is at the invitation of the Committee. This may be revoked at any time and, although this would be in exceptional circumstances, we are not obliged to provide reasons or explanations (see Section 4).
3.10 Your right to use the site and membership is not transferable.
4. Termination
4.1 We may terminate, suspend or limit access to our GoSocial immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the T&Cs.
4.2 Profiles that are not used or fall dormant will at our discretion be removed.
4.3 Our standard data retention period is 5 years of inactivity.
4.4 All provisions of the T&Cs which by their nature should survive termination shall survive termination, including, without limitation, ownership provisions, warranty disclaimers, indemnity and limitations of liability.
4.5 Upon termination, your right to use the GoSocial website and associated functions will immediately cease.
4.6 If you wish to terminate your account, you will need to:
• Inform the Committee asking to be removed from membership, any donations, payments or deposits made should be considered forfeit.
• Attending events: remove yourself from any events you've booked to attend, consider leaving a comment to make the host aware
• Hosting events: inform the Committee of any on the calendar and if possible, an identified new host.
• Should any payments or deposits have been taken from members these must be returned. If required and in exceptional circumstances we may assist creditors/authorities, this supersedes the Privacy Policy and personal details may be divulged.
5. Events
5.1 Events must be events, (i.e. they are definitely happening) “I'm going to the pub tonight, anyone wanting to come is very welcome” vs “I'm thinking of going to the pub tonight is anyone interested?”
5.2 At the core of GoSocial is meeting new people, and all members should expect to feel welcome in both signing up for and attending events, so please bear this in mind when considering the use of invitations.
5.3 Comments that could discourage another member from attending should not be added, genuine concerns should be raised with the host and/or Committee
5.4 We reserve the right to remove events that clash with/would cause problems to official GoSocial events (e.g. a fundraiser for another organisation not previously agreed with the Committee) or are otherwise determined not to be in the best interest of the community
5.5 You must not exclude members on the basis of any Protected Characteristic under the Equality Act (2010).
5.6 Unhosted events are not permitted, the host must be available to meet/welcome attendees and stay for the duration of the event/until end time if specified. If a host is unable to host they are responsible for arranging cover
5.7 The terms ‘GoSocial’ 'and Get Together' are reserved for official use only however if you would like to host an official Get Together please contact the Community Admin.
5.8 You may not profit from events (without the prior consent of the Committee). Where it is necessary to take payments from members (e.g. deposits/materials) the total taken must not exceed the sum it has cost you. If you should generate a surplus, it must be donated for the benefit of the whole community, contact the Committee/Treasurer for details, details of income/expenditure may be required.
5.9 Payments/deposits are sometime necessary prior to an event and payments to another member are made at your own risk, we recommend that payments are only made to members that you have met and trust (see 4.6 for hosts leaving GoSocial and returns)
5.10 Discounts, promotions, vouchers, free places should be shared amongst all attending members (e.g. a saving of a buy one, get one free should be shared as half-price).
5.11 By selecting ‘Attending’ you are committing to attend that event. If you are unable to attend, you must change your attendance and/or inform the host as soon as possible, especially if attendee numbers are limited. Dependent on the event/situation, you may still be liable for any costs that have been paid on your behalf or non-return of a deposit. We reserve the right to review the membership of any member who frequently doesn’t attend/turn-up or cancels within 24-hours
5.12 We do not supervise events/activities organised by/for members via GoSocial and attendees are responsible for their conduct and actions, however we will support hosts/attendees where the behaviour of a member/attendee has caused concerns (see Section 6 – Dispute Resolution).
6. Dispute resolution
6.1 GoSocial only accepts adult members, and we therefore expect members to conduct themselves accordingly (see also points 3.1 – 3.4).
6.2 If you should have a dispute with another member, you should in the first instance, contact the member and politely attempt to resolve the issue yourselves.
6.3 Whilst this matter remains between the members concerns, we do advise that the Committee are made aware of the situation/sent copies of any messages to monitor any recurrence of situations and/or should escalation be required.
6.4 Where attempts to resolve the issues between members have failed, GoSocial may at its sole discretion, investigate.
6.5 Disputes should be discussed with as few people as possible and not with those who have no direct involvement. Whilst these situations can be stressful/upsetting, rumours and hearsay are not helpful and can make things worse.
7. Consent to disclosure
You acknowledge and agree that we may under the following circumstances, disclose your information:

7.7 We also may disclose any information about you to law enforcement or other government officials as we, in our sole discretion, believe necessary or appropriate, in connection with an investigation of fraud, intellectual property infringements, or other activity that is illegal or that we believe may expose us or you to legal liability.
